OBERON THEATRE ENSEMBLE

The Oberon Theatre Ensemble is an active player in New York’s independent theatre community. Now in our 14th season, we combine classic, contemporary, and new works in repertory. We believe in the joy of a well told story, the connection offered by a supportive community, and the magic of the theatre. More

FOR SCHOOLS

Building the Audiences of Tomorrow

Since our founding, Oberon Theatre Ensemble has made a special effort to bring theatre to young audiences. We make Shakespeare, Chekov, Steinbeck and other classics accessible and engaging for students in schools and park programs. We have developed short format (25 to 45 minute) theatrical events, along with study guides and we encourage student interaction.

Oberon has brought Anton Chekov's The Bear to schools all over the New York area. We originally produced this as a component of All-In-One on Theatre Row for general audiences in 2006.

Anton Chekhov's The Bear You can book this delightful 25 minute historical and farcical comedy for your school. Complete with play, comprehensive study/historical guides and talk back with our gifted and spirited artists. ...And They Were Lovers by Thomas Marcello

Another production we offer at schools is …And They Were Lovers, an engaging medley of scenes from Shakespeare for young audiences:
  • Romeo and Juliet
  • The Taming of the Shrew
  • OthelloRichard III
  • The Merry Wives of Windsor
  • Henry VI part III
  • Much Ado About Nothing
For your school, this package comes with the 45 minute show, comprehensive study guides and an opportunity to meet the actors. The Oberon Theatre Ensemble has produced 10 full-length Shakespeare plays for our general audiences over the past decade, and our actors are gifted at bringing the Bard's work alive for students.

We are glad to work with educators to develop programs that meet your special needs. Contact Grace Pettijohn at Oberon Theatre for further details. See also our Outreach program for seniors.
